Why Does NEC Mainly Use the Web Site for Reports?

Start of text

As of FY 2005, we mainly use our Web site to publish the environmental report.

There are more advantages than disadvantages in doing so.

"We have considered how to create a Web site where readers can find information more easily than through paper documents, and we have endeavored to minimize possible disadvantages. We have done this by referring to the opinions voiced by readers, such as the opinion that information can be found more easily on the Web than on paper and the opinion that finding the necessary information is sometimes difficult if a Web site has too much information.
In contrast, a Web report has the following advantages:

  • We can transmit information to more people.
  • Link functionality allows for easy access to related information so that readers can view the related information in a cross-sectional way.
  • Individual tables of contents such as those for stakeholders can be easily provided to facilitate access to the relevant information.
  • Using video provides realistic information from the people responsible.
  • We can provide information that is more suited to readers' needs through an analysis of access history.
  • We can make timely reports as needed based on the information transmitted on the Internet.
  • Paperless reports reduce environmental impact.
    * Please print the necessary pages if you prefer paper.
It is NEC's mission as an IT company to be a leader in environmental efforts.

We believe that it is our duty as a company that provides IT solutions to provide environmental information on the Web and to continue to seek the best path for IT.

Better reports through trial and error

Although we also used our Web site as the main media for the annual environmental report for the last fiscal year, this year we endeavored to create an even better report. Of course, we think that there is still much room for improvement in making better use of the Web's functions. We will strive to present environmental information on the Web in a better way, by considering your opinions and comments and through trial and error.
