Product Design and Development

NEC promotes product development that allows it to lessen the environmental impact of the entire society by providing the greatest possible number of environmentally sound products (eco products) to customers.
In FY 1995, NEC institutionalized product assessment and set company-wide environmental design requirements (eco product standards). Since then, NEC has been promoting development of eco products.
Since FY 2005, NEC has been striving towards making all newly developed products eco products. NEC also expanded the scope of the Eco Symbol to solutions such as software and services since FY 2006. NEC is striving to produce both software and hardware that is environmentally sound.

To qualify as an eco product, all of NEC's ECO product standards must be satisfied.

Product assessments that are carried when new products are developed to determine if they meet NEC's independently set environmental standards.

ISO products pertaining to ISO environmental label are presented here.

NEC endeavors to minimize energy consumption for all of the products being developed.

NEC aims to thoroughly determine the types and usage amounts of hazardous substances included in products and restricts their use.

NEC is performing environmental assessment at the development stage for all software and services.
