NEC is one of many companies taking an increased interest in corporate social responsibility (CSR). Accordingly, in April 2004, NEC started reinforcing the systems it uses to promote CSR.
The CSR Promotion Committee (chaired by a corporate executive officer in charge of environment) holds four meetings each year to discuss and determine company-wide environmental strategies and policies and to follow up on priority issues.
The results of the CSR Promotion Committee meeting discussions are implemented through a system through which specific measures are carried out in parallel by the environmental management committees of the business units, divisions, affiliates, and subsidiaries of NEC in Japan and overseas. This allows consistent environmental management to be implemented throughout the NEC Group.
The Environmental Management Promotion Council, which is comprised of people in charge of environmental management promotion for each A link is opened in a new window.business unit, holds four meetings a year. This group supports concrete activities to facilitate environmental management.

Committees are individually formed to work with ideas that involve multiple business units, divisions and plants, such as acceleration of green procurement, company-wide promotions and follow ups for the implementation of lead-free soldering and parts, as well as efforts with respect to global warming.

We have established environmental management promotion centers for each of our business and research sites to maintain and promote environmental management for each business and site.
