Locate Your Children on Handset Assisted GPS over IP

Overview

For hundreds of years, the main method of navigation toward an unknown destination has been the map. In this modern age where international travel is so common, the role of maps gains even more importance. Thanks to recent developments in mobile networks, handsets and the GPS applications, individuals are now able to access more accurate maps and use advanced route navigation services via mobile phones.

Recently the GPS technology draws more and more attention in the fields of security, in particular, child safety. Some of the examples are;

  • The parents locate their children through a home PC or mobile phones.
  • The children lets their parents know their whereabouts in an emergency, by pressing “Emergency” key on their phone. This immediately sends out an emergency message to the handsets of pre-registered persons with a map of the children's location.

Features

NEC understands that each mobile location service is not in itself a killer application, but rather provides a base to create a suite of integrated services that fulfill more of the potential of location-sensing technology. Location services become more attractive when combined with other mobile services such as “Push to Talk,” “Presence,” “multi-player gaming,” “town guide,” “local news,” “area weather” etc. NEC will create a greater variation in mobile services to open a new channel of service revenue, and bring end-users a lot of fun.
