In this modern age where international travel is so common, the role of maps gains even more importance. Thanks to recent developments in mobile networks, handsets and the GPS applications, individuals are now able to access more accurate maps and use advanced route navigation services via mobile phones.

NEC understands that each mobile location service is not in itself a killer application, but rather provides a base to create a suite of integrated services that fulfill more of the potential of location-sensing technology. Location services become more attractive when combined with other mobile services such as “Push to Talk,” “Presence,” “multi-player gaming,” “town guide,” “local news,” “area weather” etc. NEC will create a greater variation in mobile services to open a new channel of service revenue, and bring end-users a lot of fun.
