Overview
Mobile Internet is a comprehensive service that gives mobile users easy Internet access via a mobile terminal. Through terminal-mounted microbrowser (WAP, i-mode® etc.), this service provides end-users with tons of information and various functions such as e-mail, chat, weather forecast, retailer information, location information and mobile gaming.
With mobile Internet, end-users can check a flight schedule or a bus timetable, or even his whereabouts on a map displayed on the terminal at anywhere and anytime.

Mobile E-mail: People can use a Web, WAP or i-mode® browsers to view Web-based mail account to read e-mail.

Mobile Instant Messaging: An Internet-based, person-to-person multimedia messaging.

Mobile Blogging: Mobile blog may provide an extra attraction to the Internet-based Weblog, a popular Web content, because the bloggers can add texts, pictures and video clips to their blogs in real time when they are out and about.

Mobile Banking: It refers to the management of personal bank accounts from mobile phones, including checking balances, money transfer, cash withdrawal and direct payments.

Mobile Auction: For example, if you are a seller, just shoot the article on sale by your mobile phone with a built-in camera, and put it up to auction. If you are a bidder, enter your bid (price) on the terminal, and wait until the deadline. If somebody raises the stake, it is automatically informed, and you can bid up again with a new price.

NFC (Near Field Communication): NFC bundles the functions of cash, voucher, student card, railway pass, reward cards etc. into an electric wallet. NFC provides the end-user with a variety of features (e.g. purchase a live ticket through mobile Internet and bring it as a contact-less IC ticket to the conert hall.)

NEC has rich experiences in the development of comfortable and easy-use mobile Internet service, i-mode®. The mobile Internet service delivery platform is called NEMIP, a constantly evolving platform comprising of WAP and i-mode core systems and application infrastructure enabling IP browsing, JAVA™ download, e-mails, event-based billing, content management, forwarding & provisioning, digital rights management, mobile commerce, data mining, CRM and statistical analysis, mediation and context based services.
i-mode®, launched in February 1999, is NTT DoCoMo's flagship mobile Internet service, and its success is largely the result of the huge quantity and variety of content. NEC is an official licensee of i-mode® platform and has successfully supplied the system to multiple operators such as Far EasTone Telecommunication Co., Ltd (Taiwan), Bouygues Telecom S.A. (France), Telefonica Moviles Espana, S.A. (Spain), Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA (Italy), COSMOTE Mobile Telecommunications S.A. (Greece), Telstra Corporation Limited (Australia), Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (Russia) and O2 plc (UK and Ireland).
