NEC Corporation and NEC Foundation of America Make Donations Totaling $1 Million
to Disaster Relief Efforts
New York, N.Y. - September 21, 2001 - NEC Corporation and NEC Foundation
of America today announced donations totaling $1 million to support relief efforts
surrounding the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
NEC Corporation will make a $700,000 contribution to The September 11th Fund.
The Fund was established by the United Way and The New York Community Trust to
help respond to the immediate and longer-term needs of the victims, their families,
and communities affected by the events of September 11, 2001. One hundred percent
of monies donated to the Fund will go directly to the victims and those affected
by the disaster.
NEC Foundation of America will make a $300,000 donation to the "Families
of Freedom Scholarship Fund" managed by the Citizens' Scholarship Foundation
of America (CSFA) in Minneapolis, MN. The purpose of the fund is to provide assistance
for postsecondary undergraduate education to financially needy children and spouses
of those killed or permanently disabled as a result of the September 11 terrorist
attacks in the United States.

from the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C. on September
11, 2001," said Koji Nishigaki, President of NEC Corporation. "The contributions
announced today are in keeping with NEC's fundamental commitment to the communities
in which we live, work and do business. NEC and its employees, like so many around
the world who have come together in response to this tragedy, will continue to
find ways to assist the victims, their families and the devastated communities."
These contributions follow immediate efforts by various NEC subsidiaries within
the United States to respond to other needs through local donations and blood
