NEC's HSDPA System to Enable Launch of Hutchison Telecom Macau's Turbo 3G Service

*****For immediate use October 16, 2007

Tokyo, October 16, 2007- NEC Corporation today announced that its High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) system will enable the launch of Hutchison Telephone (Macau) Company Limited (Hutchison Telecom Macau)'s commercial 3G service, Turbo3G, from October 16, 2007.

NEC delivered a HSDPA network to Hutchison Telecom Macau's parent company, Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong, last year for its Turbo 3G service that commenced operation in December. The success of the system supplied to Macau can be attributed to NEC's wealth of knowledge and experience in supplying highly reliable, premium quality HSDPA networks to various telecom operators across the globe.

3G licenses were issued to 3 mobile operators in Macau in June, including Hutchison Telecom Macau. The HSDPA service realizes a maximum downlink transmission speed of 7.2Mbps to enable download of large volumes of data or browsing of rich contents, promising a new kind of user experience.

NEC will pioneer the global expansion of HSDPA by leveraging its HSDPA experience and past business successes,
