Tokyo, February 10, 2009 -NEC Corporation's CX2600/220 and PASOLINK NEO iP products, part of NEC's mobile backhaul solution, successfully demonstrated interoperability in a public multi-vendor MPLS and Ethernet interoperability test organized by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) from January 12th to 23rd 2009. The event was designed to show the latest advances in MPLS and Carrier Ethernet technologies for next generation transport networks. NEC exhibited its CX2600/220 and PASOLINK NEO iP MPLS and Ethernet Radio ready products specially designed for multi-service backhaul networks.
As traffic volumes for HSPA, WiMAX and upcoming LTE networks reach new levels, NEC's mobile network customers have an increasing need to transition from TDM to Packet based transport. The interoperability event provided a transparent platform to demonstrate working migration options for mobile and fixed carriers evolving to Packet transport architectures with MPLS and Ethernet Radio technologies.
In this test, 15 major telecommunications equipment vendors provided support with their products. NEC demonstrated the interoperability of its highly intelligent and flexible Mobile Backhaul Solution portfolio including PASOLINK NEO iP and Service Aggregation Switch CX2600. The systems successfully completed the packet based Mobile Backhaul interoperability test including TDM/ATM over MPLS Transport with various other vendors, and also demonstrated Performance Monitoring features based on the Ethernet OAM standard (ITU-T Y.1731).
NEC's equipment will be showcased at the MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2009 organized by Upperside Conferences from 11th to 13th February in Pairs, France. Additional information about the multi-vendor MPLS and Ethernet Interoperability event can be found at: http://www.eantc.com/mplsewc2009
