The Femto Forum Femtocell Awards are one of the industry's most prestigious and respected events, recognising the rapid evolution of the femtocell industry and outstanding achievement. The winners were announced at the awards ceremony on 24 June 2009.

Simon Saunders, Chairman of the Femto Forum said: "The judges were extremely impressed by the high quality and number of award submissions. In light of this the judging process was extremely difficult but NEC stood out and was deserving of its award."

"The femtocell industry is rapidly evolving as major advances are made in the technology, standards, services and applications - these awards recognise and reward this progress. Our congratulations to NEC and to all those who participated."

Anil Kohli, head of femtocell, NEC Europe said: "We're delighted to have won this prestigious award. It underlines our achievements in taking femtocell beyond the hype into real commercial deployments."

Mr Kohli continued: "NEC has been at the forefront of making femtocell networks a reality for some time now, with many operators having passed the trial phase.
