Tokyo, Japan and Gouda, Netherlands, 23 July, 2009 - NEC Corporation and Centric IT Solutions, an IT solutions provider based in Gouda, The Netherlands, announced today a distribution agreement that represents an important step towards strengthening retail solutions in Europe. Under the agreement, Centric will begin sales of NEC's POS "TWINPOS5500Ui," in compliance with a variety of regional standards that are required for carrying out business. This is a significant move towards strengthening relations between the two companies as NEC plans to continue developing its solutions business in Europe.
This agreement is the result of a collaborative alliance between NEC and Centric IT Solutions: NEC aims to strengthen retail solutions business in the EU and to establish an organization capable of providing comprehensive solutions for a wide range of industries throughout the world; Centric, one of the major IT suppliers in the European region, having several customers in the European retail market, aims at rapid expansion of its business base in the near future. This agreement is based on the software platform Centric StoreWorld. Both companies will strive to create market and brand recognition in the European retail solutions market by establishing an alliance that provides a wide range of comprehensive solutions to retailers spanning all of Europe.
NEC leverages its strengths to globally expand retail solutions by focusing on convenience stores (CVS), general merchandising stores (GMS) and supermarkets, in a trilateral strategy that now reaches 13 countries, including North America, greater China and Southeast Asia/India. This agreement enables NEC to expand its system integration (SI) business with the "TWINPOS5500Ui" as an important step towards providing a variety of retail solutions and support for retailers in the EU and across the globe.
