NEC in Amsterdam for the LTE World Summit 2010

*** For immediate use May 10, 2010

London May 10, 2010...NEC Corporation (NEC) announced today that it will be present at the LTE World Summit 2010, the leading industry event dedicated to LTE (Long-Term Evolution), the next-generation mobile broadband technology, that takes place in Amsterdam 18 - 19 May 2010

During the conference, executives from NEC will present papers and join panel discussions examining how mobile operators can facilitate their mobile network transformation towards future IT and mobile broadband services.

  • Day 1, 15:10, Dr Shahram Niri, Director of Global LTE/SAE Strategy & Solution at NEC Europe Ltd. will join a panel discussion on "Assessing the End-to-End Readiness of LTE"

  • Day 1, 15:25, Dr Hamid Falaki, Senior Product Manager, Global LTE/SAE Strategy & Solution at NEC Europe Ltd., will present a paper on "A Simulation Study to Examine Various Deployment Scenarios for LTE"

  • Day 2, 16:40, Dr Shahram Niri will join a panel discussion on "When Should Operators Break Away from HSPA/HSPA+?"

"Mobile operators are looking to transform their networks towards future IT and mobile broadband services such as new businesses created by cloud-based applications. However, the changing dynamics of the mobile market means that more than ever before, they have to prove the business case for next-generation mobile technology such as LTE," said Dr Niri. "NEC is helping mobile operators to achieve these goals with its small cell LTE solutions."

By using small cells, mobile operators can tailor the provision of their LTE services according to capacity demand from small-scale to wide-scale commercial deployments. NEC's small cells are SON (Self-Organising Network)-managed, which allows mobile operators to deploy and operate LTE efficiently, easily and quickly and at a lower cost than previous 2G and 3G deployments.
