Tokyo, February 15, 2011 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today the sales launch of seven updated NEC Express5800 series x86 servers that are equipped with the latest Intel (*1) processors and deliver as much as 20 percent greater performance (*2) than previous models.

All seven models, ranging from tower servers to datacenter optimized rack and blade servers, are powered by the latest Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor 5600 series. The updated models continue to feature NEC engineered power capping technology for in-depth control of power consumption as well as effective airflow design to achieve optimized cooling, all of which delivers significant overall power efficiency and low-noise operation. Furthermore, the NEC ExpressUpdate management tool for updating modules extensively reduces workloads by simplifying the application and management of updates through remote control.

Shipping dates differ according to model and country.

For further specification information, please see:

Several models are qualified with the energy efficiency specifications of the international ENERGY STAR(R) program (*3) led by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These high-performance, energy-saving servers provide an ideal platform for virtualized systems.

Looking forward, NEC will continue to strengthen its Express5800 Series of servers based on the company's "REAL IT PLATFORM Generation 2" vision for next generation IT platforms with the flexibility, reliability and usability to drive the growth of cloud computing.
