Dr. Tadahiro Sekimoto Announces Resignation as Chairman of NEC Corporation
I expressed my decision to resign as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the board meeting held this morning.
As the head of NEC Corporation (NEC) and the NEC Group of companies, I would like to convey my heartfelt apologies for the disturbance caused by the company's involvement in the incident with the Defense Agency of Japan. My decision to resign as Chairman is to make a morally and socially ethical decision, and I sincerely hope NEC, for which I feel such a strong attachment, will be able to grow further towards the 21st century. Furthermore, also effective today, I have resigned from the post of Chairman of the Board of Councilors of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren).
From this point on, I am confident that all employees of NEC and the NEC Group led by Dr. Hisashi Kaneko, President of NEC, will implement all necessary measures to ensure such an incident shall never occur again as well as to ensure that conformance with the law shall be instilled throughout all NEC companies. Though it will be hard to regain the public trust in NEC, I would like to ask our shareholders and customers to watch closely as all employees make their best effort to create a new and innovative NEC. Finally, I wish to express my sincere gratitude for your generous support and assistance, and sincerely hope to maintain your continuous support for NEC into the future.
