Our continuing research & development is geared toward creating communication robot that can live with us and serve as companion to all of us including children and the elderlies.
We started research and development on personal robots in 1997. Throughout the research and development we have always been cognizant of such questions as "What is a robot?", "What are robots to people?", "What is the relationship between people and robots?" and "What is life and society with robots?". After putting together all these considerations up to this point, we have developed a prototype communication robot PaPeRo and conducting various research using PaPeRo to investigate the "relationship between people and robots".
